TIA Supports Senate Passage

For more than 18 years, Stephen Patrick Day has led Logistics Group International (LGI) as president and CEO. Through the Houston, Texas-based company, he and his team offer a range of logistics and transportation solutions to clients. Active in the professional community Stephen Day of Logistics Group International is affiliated with the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA), dedicated to improving business practices and standards in the third-party logistic industry.

To this end, TIA stays abreast of new legislation and regulations affecting the industry, such as the passage of the Surface Transportation Reauthorization Bill by the United States Senate in August 2021. This bipartisan transportation bill includes over $550 billion in infrastructure projects like roads, Amtrak, and bridges.

The bill requests that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Consumer Complaint Database be reviewed by the organization and that brokers be included in the FMCSA review process. It also introduces a pilot program for drivers under 21 years old that increases their pool of carriers and clarifies dispatch’s role in the logistics supply chain.

TIA applauds the work required to get the bill passed in the Senate and fully supports the legislation’s main provisions. The organization can proudly present this news to members and believes that the United States economy and supply chain will benefit from having the best infrastructure possible.
