New Cigarette Owners Announce Planned Superyacht

Texas-based executive Stephen Patrick Day leads Logistics Group International (LGI) in Houston as CEO and president. A certified Transportation Broker and certified Diamond Broker, he has been working in the transportation industry for over two decades. A fan of hyper and super cars Stephen Day of Logistics Group International stays abreast of news relating to many fast vehicle manufacturers, including Cigarette Racing.

Founded in 1969, Cigarette Racing has long been associated with high-performance powerboats, particularly among go-fast racing enthusiasts. Within 10 years, it had become a household name popular with many luminaries, such as Princess Caroline of Monaco, King Juan Carlos of Spain, and President George HW Bush.

Throughout its history, Cigarette has had several different owners at the helm. Under the ownership of Skip Braver, who bought the company in 2002, the business opened a new production facility in Florida and introduced a new line of fishing center consoles. In 2007, it began an annual partnership with Mercedes-AMG that resulted in customized AMG models built by the two businesses. And now, Cigarette is exploring a new path forward with the company's recent purchase by John H. Ruis and Ophir Sternberg.

The two new owners, a Miami attorney and the owner of Lionheart Capital investment firm, plan on introducing larger boats to Cigarette’s lineup. Specifically, they announced the upcoming 130-foot watercraft designed as a luxury superyacht. The superyacht sketches blend elegance with a fine European look thanks to input from several Italian yacht designers.

Bugatti’s Reliable and Powerful 16-Cylinder W16 Engine

President of Logistics Group International (LGI) in Houston, Texas, Stephen Patrick Day, delivers an array of transport solutions for shippers in the US, Mexico & Canada. Passionate about super and hypercars, Stephen Day follows hypercar manufacturers like Bugatti.

Bugatti models such as the Chiron, Veyron, and Divo are known for extreme power and behind this is the W16 engine. The engine features 16 cylinders arranged in a “W” configuration across four banks. Introduced in 2005, the Volkswagen Group-manufactured engine pairs eight-liter displacement with four turbochargers and four camshafts. This quad-turbo concept involves a pair of VR8 engines that share a crankshaft together and operate in tandem. It essentially doubles turbo thrust compared with most high-performance models.

Introduced with the Veyron, the model that currently puts the W16 to full use is the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+. This street-legal vehicle delivers nearly 1,600 horsepower and can exceed 300 miles per hour. Interestingly, the W16 engine is now considered to be on its “last legs” as hybrid sports cars such as the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder have pushed technology in new directions. Bugatti is itself planning a next-generation hybrid drivetrain that will continue its high-performance tradition.

In his role at Logistics Group International, Stephen Patrick Day, oversees the Houston-based transportation company that offers a range of solutions, including refrigerated (reefer) freight shipping service.

LGI’s reefer service works with over 15,000 carriers to deliver frozen and chilled products to their destinations. Going with the reefer service has a few advantages. The trucks are temperature-controlled, refrigerated, and insulated, which prevents perishables from spoiling and guards against temperature changes. Moreover, reefer trailers allow businesses to transport various items, for example, plants, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products.

Further, because the trailers are temperature controlled, they also contribute to sustainability by reducing waste. Other benefits include protecting against insects, preventing the rotting of perishables, and prolonging the lifespan of products.

Anchored Performance Boat Manufacturing

Stephen Patrick Day has worked with Logistics Group International (LGI) for almost two decades as a certified transportation broker and a certified diamond broker. As president and CEO, he supervises all day-to-day operations of the Houston-based third-party logistics company. When he's not working as an executive at Logistics Group International, Stephen Day enjoys fast cars and fast boats.

Outerlimits Performance Boating is the first high-performance boat manufacturer to integrate carbon fibers into the boat's architectural structure and finishes. Traditionally, many boat manufacturers rely on wood and steel for similar objectives. Rather than replicating the traditional approach, the team of expert crafters at Outerlimits relishes the idea of adding more strength and durability to their products without compromising performance and weight. Carbon fibers appeared to be the ideal option in this regard since they are 10 times more durable than steel.

Carbon fibers are basically consolidated packets of interconnected carbon filaments. The carbon filaments are very tiny, strong, light, and extremely stiff. The accretion of these filaments in layers and the stacking up of multiple layers of carbon fibers give the material its unique stiffness and tensile strength. Carbon fibers are also highly temperature tolerant, significantly resistant to chemicals, and have a low weight to strength ratio.
