The founder, CEO, and owner of Logistics Group International (LGI), Stephen Patrick Day has at least two decades of experience in logistics and transportation. Stephen Day’s non-work interests include sports cars, Formula 1, and offshore powerboats.
In 1904, a race was organized in Europe with powerboats racing from England to France. Soon after, the American Power Boat Association was created, and they recorded a race by 1911 in California. Powerboat racing flourished in America more than it did in Europe in 1917 because of World War I. But from 1927-1935, there was a surge of interest in Europe once more. The boats were called hydroplanes, and they featured outboard engines from Lockwood, Watermota, Evinrude, and Elto.
Today, the offshore powerboat races are shorter than they used to be. Previously, ‘navigators’ were vital for marking out what path to follow while out in the open sea. Nowadays, the races are more track-style and modified for spectators with various new categories of boats.
